Baika celebrates Chilean identity and the strength of the countryside during these National Holidays
September in Chile is synonymous with identity, traditions, and celebration. It's a time to reconnect with our roots and recognize what unites us as a nation: the land, its bounty, and the people who, through hard work and dedication, bring the countryside to life.
In the context of the National Holidays, Baika wanted to highlight precisely that connection with Chilean identity and with agricultural work through an initiative that reached all corners where the company is present: the Baika 2025 Photography Contest.
This competition aimed to have employees showcase, from their own perspective, the beauty of agricultural work and their pride in belonging to the Baika family. The call for entries was a resounding success, with over 170 photographs received from around the world: the fields of northern and southern Chile, Baika's operations in Colombia, Tropical Millennium's mangoes in Spain, and the processing plant in Mexico, among others.
More than a contest, the activity became a collective tribute to agriculture as a culture and way of life. Each image shared by the participants reflected the four pillars of sustainability that guide Baika's management: Land, Fruit, Integrity, and People. Therefore, in addition to recognizing the creativity of its employees, the company will incorporate these photographs into its next Sustainability Report, integrating art and personal stories into a document that demonstrates its commitment to the countryside and the community.
The winners of this first edition reflected the diversity that Baika cultivates across its subsidiaries. In the Land category, first place went to “Fields in Salamina, Colombia,” by Carolina Velásquez, representing Baika Colombia, while an honorable mention was awarded to “Frost Control in Blueberries,” by Blas Varas, from Agrícola Valles del Sur in Chile.
In the Fruit pillar, the main recognition was obtained by “La Palta”, from Iván Catalán, from Valle Leyda, who received his award in a ceremony that symbolized the union between agricultural work and the pride of belonging to a company that values national production.
For Baika, this experience meant much more than just receiving awards. It confirmed that the company's essence lies in its people and the way each one contributes, with dedication and passion, to building a shared project. And during these National Holidays, that message takes on special significance: Chilean identity is expressed not only in traditions and celebrations, but also in the connection to the land, in the care of crops, and in the ability to proudly share the harvest.
The Baika 2025 Photography Contest made it clear that behind every fruit, every field, and every process, there are human stories that deserve to be told and celebrated. Stories that today add to the spirit of September and, at the same time, project the future of a sustainable, inclusive agriculture deeply connected to Chile's cultural roots.
