Ecuadorian company achieves new international certifications on 20 farms
Within the framework of strengthening and developing the avocado value chain in Ecuador, Interanza has been working on various institutional and technical activities aimed at improving the sector's productivity. In this regard, the organization has focused its efforts on two key areas: optimizing crops and implementing food safety and quality certifications.
Twelve months ago, Interanza started a project to enhance the productive capacity of 45 farms in 5 provinces of the country and a food safety certification process in 20 of these farms.
Santiago Pinto explained the hard work carried out by producers, external consultants, the certification body, and the company's internal team to achieve these milestones. Among these achievements, he highlighted the certification of 20 new farms, bringing the total to 110 new hectares certified under the Global GAP Level 2 standard. Pinto emphasized that Interanza became the first and largest Ecuadorian group to obtain Global GAP 6.0 certification, representing a significant achievement for the country's agricultural export sector.
Simultaneously, this international certification has been aligned with local Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) regulations, thus guaranteeing compliance with the standards required by the national regulatory body. Pinto Díaz emphasized that this collaborative effort between the private sector, institutions, and development projects has allowed for the consolidation of a more efficient and competitive agricultural production model.
