Volumes in the United States exceeded the previous year by 26% during week 51
At the close of week 51, the United States market recorded a 7% increase in volume compared to the previous week and was 26% above the same period last year.
The distribution by origin showed no significant changes: Mexico accounted for 97% of shipments, while the remaining origins each accounted for approximately one percent or less, with no impact on the total. Shipment levels remained high for this time of year, and a moderate decrease is projected during the holiday season.
In terms of prices, the only downward adjustment was observed in size 84, with a 3% drop. Size 60 and the larger sizes, between 32 and 40, registered a 5% increase, while the other sizes remained unchanged. Size 48 remained stable, although at levels below $2 per kilo, which represents about half the value observed in the same period of the previous year.
According to Antonio Villaseñor's column, both this week and next are expected to show somewhat lower volumes. However, starting in January, with the Super Bowl approaching, an increase in shipments from Mexico is anticipated, as it remains the primary supplier to the U.S. market.
