Peru reduces its avocado shipments by 40% and is nearing the end of the season

The Peruvian avocado export cycle is entering its final phase. During week 42, the country registered only 12 containers shipped, a 40% drop compared to the previous week and below the volumes reached during the same period last year. These figures confirm that the 2025 export campaign is nearing its operational end, leaving the country with an increasingly less prominent role in international markets.

The latest shipments were destined primarily for Europe, which absorbed nearly three-quarters of the total, while Chile received the remainder. The level of activity reflects a gradual end to the season rather than an abrupt closure, as shipments will not reach zero but will remain at marginal levels for the next few weeks.

This trend is already reflected in the European market share structure. In week 43, Peru accounted for 21% of total avocado imports on the continent, although analysts predict that this share will soon fall to 10% or less, as Chilean and Israeli volumes gain prominence and the year-end rotation of origins consolidates.
