Peru is making strong progress in the 2025 campaign: more than 375,000 tons of Hass avocados exported through June
The 2025 Peruvian Hass avocado season is progressing well. By mid-year, Peru had already shipped more than 375,000 tons of the fruit, reaching 60% of its total projection for the season. The Peruvian Hass Avocado Producers Association (ProHass) estimates that the season will conclude between the third and fourth week of September, with a final volume of approximately 641,000 tons exported.
To date, more than 17,700 containers have been shipped to major international markets. In the coming weeks, an additional 266,000 tons are projected to be shipped, although a natural slowdown in the loading rate is expected due to seasonal factors. Even so, the remaining volume will allow us to meet our existing trade commitments.
Beyond the volume, one aspect that distinguishes this season is the exceptional quality of Peruvian avocados. Firmness, optimal dry matter content, and external appearance have been consistently highlighted by both exporters and buyers at the destination. This combination of attributes has positioned the product as one of the most highly valued in demanding markets such as Europe, the United States, and Asia.
Favorable climatic conditions in the main growing regions have contributed to this quality, as have the technical advances in agronomic management, harvesting, and post-harvest handling implemented by producers. All of this reinforces the reputation of Peruvian avocados as a high-standard, competitive fruit in the international market.
Europe leads the destination market
In terms of geographic distribution, Europe accounts for the largest volume of shipments, representing 61% of the total, equivalent to 228,000 tons. Exports to the European continent are expected to continue until week 38. The United States and Asia follow, each with a 14% share: the US has received 54,000 tons and Asia, 51,000 tons. Both regions will conclude their shipping season in week 36.
Chile has imported 25,000 tons so far, 54% of its projected volume, with the campaign also ending in week 36. Meanwhile, the Latin American countries that make up the group of "other destinations in America" have already received 70% of the estimated amount (17,000 tons), and the campaign to those markets is expected to end earlier, in week 34.
One of the pillars supporting this campaign has been traceability. Through a consolidated monitoring system, ProHass collects weekly updates on 43 exporting companies, which together represent 68% of the national volume. This flow of information not only makes the sector's actual performance more transparent, but also improves logistics planning, prevents mismatches between supply and demand, and strengthens buyer confidence.
For the agricultural export sector, having consistent and reliable data is key to consolidating stable trade relationships and developing more precise strategies. In this sense, continuous monitoring has become a central tool for positioning Peruvian avocados as a world-class product.
Strong prospects for the end of the campaign
With significant growth in volume and a positive response in quality, the 2025 export campaign is on track to close with a positive outcome. ProHass continues its work focused on the technical coordination of the sector, strengthening markets, and maintaining the international leadership of Hass avocados produced in Peru.
The challenge now is to capitalize on the lessons learned this season and continue innovating to maintain Peru as a global benchmark, not only for the quantity exported, but for the excellence of the fruit it delivers to the world.
