Mission Produce opens packing plant in Guatemala to strengthen its global leadership

The new state-of-the-art facility strengthens Mission Produce's vertically integrated supply network, enabling the delivery of high-quality fresh avocados to key markets such as Europe, the UK and the US year-round.

Mission Produce has taken a decisive step in its global strategy with the official opening of its state-of-the-art packing plant in Guatemala. The event, held on April 24, 2025, was attended by Guatemalan President Bernardo Arévalo and U.S. Ambassador Tobin Bradley. The new facility marks a milestone in positioning Guatemala as a key country in international avocado production, contributing to the agricultural and economic development of the region.

With two harvests a year, optimal natural resources, and a strategic location, Guatemala allows Mission to close supply gaps throughout the year. The new plant, equipped with advanced quality control and food safety technology, will improve supply efficiency and consistency, strengthening Mission's ability to meet growing global demand. This expansion is based on a successful vertical integration model previously implemented in Peru, now replicated in Guatemala.

Mission Produce began its agricultural operations in Guatemala in 2020 with the Cerro Redondo farm and has already planted more than 700 hectares with a view to reaching 1,000 by 2026. With this new facility, the company not only strengthens its global supply chain, but also contributes to local employment and sustainable development, laying the foundation for a lasting expansion of Guatemalan avocados in international markets.
