SIAL Canada 2025 consolidates its leadership as an international food innovation platform

Avocomex stands out as a leader in the processed avocado products industry.

The 22nd edition of SIAL Canada, one of North America's most important food and beverage trade shows, opened its doors this Tuesday. The event, which runs from April 29 to May 1 at the Enercare Centre in Toronto, brings together more than 1,000 exhibitors from 44 countries and over 23,000 trade visitors from 77 nations, solidifying its position as a key platform for international food trade.

Organized by the SIAL Group (Salon International de l'Alimentation)—whose headquarters are in France—this trade fair is part of a global circuit that includes events in Europe, Asia, and North America. While the French edition is the largest, SIAL Canada has gained increasing prominence due to its strategic focus on the Canadian market, as well as attracting the attention of major buyers from the United States, Latin America, and Asia.

Avocomex, Mexican innovation on the global stage

One of the featured participants at this year's event is AVOCOMEX, a US-based company with operations in Colombia, Peru, and Mexico and over 30 years of experience in avocado processing. The company specializes in the production of guacamole, avocado pulp, and IQF (individually quick frozen) cuts, serving customers in the United States, Europe, Asia, and Latin America from its facilities in Colombia, Peru, and Mexico.

“For us, participating in SIAL is a very effective business tool,” says Eduardo González Rios, CEO of the company. “It’s like having 200 business meetings concentrated into three days. And from those interactions, we generally generate between 10 and 15 new clients, which represents a direct impact on brand expansion.”

AVOCOMEX is part of the growing number of companies that see trade fairs like SIAL as an opportunity not only to open new markets, but also to present innovations aligned with health, convenience and sustainability trends.

The participating delegation is made up of its CEO Eduardo González Río, along with directors Juan Fernando Hoyos and Juan David Castaño, who are leading the meetings with buyers from the retail channel and the horeca sector (hotels, restaurants and catering).

A key event for the development of the agri-food sector

During the three-day event, conferences, product presentations, tastings, and networking sessions will be held to strengthen ties between producers, distributors, importers, and developers of technology applied to the food sector. SIAL Canada stands out as a meeting point between innovation and business strategy in a highly competitive market.

“The trade fair allows companies from around the world to showcase their innovative capabilities, adapt their products to market demands, and connect directly with decision-makers,” González points out. “And that’s key for sectors like ours, where quality, traceability, and sustainability are no longer differentiators, but minimum requirements.”

In addition to Canada and France, SIAL organizes select versions of its fairs in strategic countries such as China, India and the United Arab Emirates, making this trade fair group one of the world's leading events in the agri-food sector.
