Fruit Logistica 2025: Berlin brings together the giants of the fresh produce trade
From February 5 to 7, 2025, Berlin will once again become the meeting point for leaders in the global fruit and vegetable industry with Fruit Logistica, the leading trade fair for fresh produce. This international event brings together more than 2,500 exhibitors from 86 countries and welcomes around 66,000 trade visitors from 145 nations, establishing itself as a unique platform for business development, innovation, and knowledge sharing.
Fruit Logistica stands out for its comprehensive approach, covering the entire fresh produce value chain: from production and packaging to logistics, distribution, and marketing. In addition to the product exhibition, the event features activities such as the "Tech Stage," showcasing the latest technologies; the "Logistics Hub," which addresses innovative logistics solutions; and the "Future Lab," a space dedicated to future trends in the sector.
In this edition, the avocado takes center stage due to its growing popularity and the challenges associated with its sustainable production. One of the most noteworthy innovations is the "Organic Raingrown Avocado" from the Dutch company Eosta/Nature&More. This organic avocado, nominated for the FRUIT LOGISTICA Innovation Award 2025, is the first available year-round variety grown without artificial irrigation, using only rainwater. This practice not only reduces water consumption but also offers a sustainable solution to the growing global demand for and scarcity of water.
The key meeting point for the avocado trade
Fruit Logistica is the stage where key deals in the avocado sector are finalized. It's the meeting point for exporters from Latin America and Africa with major European importers, enabling the consolidation of trade agreements and the exploration of new markets. Producing countries such as Chile, Peru, Colombia, South Africa, Morocco, and Spain meet with strategic buyers in Europe to define the year's trade trends and strategies.
During the three days of the fair, companies from all parts of the avocado supply chain participate, including logistics, shipping, storage and distribution companies, making it a key instance for planning and executing large-scale export strategies.
Latin America is strongly present
The event boasts a broad representation from Latin American countries, who are using the fair to strengthen their position in international markets. Peru leads the participation with over 100 companies and five trade associations from the agribusiness sector, projecting $400 million in business. Mexico, the world's leading exporter of avocados, also stands out with companies seeking to consolidate their presence in Europe and explore new market opportunities for products such as berries, mangoes, and citrus fruits.
Chile, known for its strong export capacity in fruits such as avocados, grapes, cherries, and kiwis, is actively participating to strengthen its network and present advancements in sustainability and efficiency. Colombia, an emerging agricultural exporter, is promoting its growing supply of Hass avocados, pineapples, and bananas, highlighting its commitment to quality and sustainability. Ecuador, with its burgeoning banana, cacao, and tropical fruit industries, is also joining the event to position its products in European markets.
Fruit Logistica 2025 places special emphasis on sustainability and innovation. The Fresh Produce Forum addresses topics such as the impact of climate change on agriculture, the digitalization of the sector, and the adoption of more sustainable practices. In addition, Startup World showcases young technology companies with disruptive solutions to industry challenges.
With official delegations, product presentations, conferences and networking spaces, Fruit Logistica 2025 not only connects the most important players in the fresh produce trade, but also sets the roadmap for the future of the global fruit and vegetable industry.
