Avocado shipments and prices in the Chinese market decline for the fourth consecutive week.

The Chinese avocado market closed the week with the arrival of 67 containers, registering a 36% decrease compared to the previous week. This drop is partly due to a previously observed deferred volume effect, where a week with no significant arrivals was followed by an atypical increase.

Despite the weekly decrease, import levels remain 29% higher than those recorded in the same week last year, reflecting a year-on-year growth trend in the flow to China.

In terms of prices, the market experienced its fourth consecutive week of declines. Sizes 18 to 24, which serve as a benchmark, showed a 29% drop compared to the previous week, settling at around $2 per kilogram. Compared to the same week in 2023, current prices are 48% lower.
