How many times should a tree be watered during the winter?

The avocado, Persea americana, is an adaptable plant that can grow from a pot into a bushy, fruit-bearing shrub. Knowing how to water this variety in winter is essential for its care.

During the winter, avocado tree watering needs to be adjusted. Unlike spring and summer, when it requires frequent watering through systems like drip irrigation, in winter it should be reduced to once or twice a week, depending on soil moisture.

It's crucial to monitor soil dryness. When the soil is dry, water to hydrate the plant; otherwise, wait a few days before watering thoroughly, avoiding waterlogging. Balance is key when watering these types of crops.

In addition to irrigation, the avocado tree needs direct sunlight for several hours a day and deep, loamy soil for root growth. Regarding nutrients, it requires potassium, magnesium, phosphorus, and nitrogen. Fertigation, a technique of mixing fertilizers with irrigation water, and foliar fertilization are effective methods for providing it with nutrients.

With this care, even during winter, the avocado tree can bloom and offer delicious fruit, ideal for urban gardens or garden spaces intended for organic planting.
