How will Colombian avocado shipments grow in the coming weeks?

As Avobook CEO Sebastián de la Cuadra announced in our Avonews section, Colombia will gradually increase its avocado shipments for the remainder of the season.

Although the arrival of their fruit is currently showing a decrease compared to the previous week, the situation will change significantly: according to Avobook data, in week 43, 161 containers were sent to various markets, which is equivalent to 6% less compared to week 42. 90% of them traveled to Europe, while the rest were shipped to the United States.

So far in 2024, three-quarters of Colombian avocado exports went to Europe, 1% stayed in Latin America, and the rest went to North America.

But projections show that Colombia will jump to 200 containers per week, which should begin to happen between weeks 45 and 46. The other change is that the percentage represented by its shipments to Europe will no longer be as prevalent, as more volume will be sent to the United States, compared to what has been done until now.

Much more data on the global avocado market can be found in the Avobook Report for Week 44.
