China reduces avocado imports, but prices for the Peruvian product skyrocket.

The Chinese market received a total of 32 avocado shipments last week, with Peru dominating the supply at 63% and the remainder coming from Chile. However, volumes show a 31% drop compared to the previous week, reflecting an irregular trend in weekly shipments.

Despite this reduction in supply, Peruvian avocado prices continue to rise. For the third consecutive week, sizes 18 to 24 have seen increases, rising 12% compared to the previous week. Compared to the same period last year, prices for these sizes are 43% higher, indicating a greater appreciation of the product in the Chinese market.

While the volatility in volumes creates uncertainty, the firmness of prices suggests that demand remains strong, especially for Peruvian fruit. In the coming weeks, it will be crucial to observe whether this trend continues or if market behavior adjusts with new shipments.
