China increases avocado imports by 47%, but Peruvian avocado prices continue to fall

The Chinese market closed the week with 44 imported shipments, representing a 47% increase compared to the previous week. However, the volume remains 33% lower than the same period last year.

Supply to China continues to be dominated by Peru, which accounts for 91% of shipments, while Chile maintains a marginal share and is in the final phase of its exports to the Asian market.

Regarding prices, Peruvian avocados have registered their third consecutive week of decline, with a 4% reduction in sizes 18 to 24. Despite this downward trend, current prices are still 63% higher than in the same week last year, when the volume available on the market was greater.

Given this dynamic, the evolution of the market in China will depend on the balance between supply and demand, as well as the impact that the adjustment in export volumes may have in the coming weeks.
