Low percentage of avocados exported from Chile and Colombia

Chile closed week 45 with shipments of 269 containers. As predicted, this represents a significant decrease compared to the previous week (-30%). Even so, Chilean avocado exports are 14% higher than those of the same week last year.

Of this volume, 64% was destined for Europe, while the amount sent to the United States, a market impacted by the enormous volumes from Mexico, was significantly reduced. In fact, shipments to North America represent no more than 1%, while Latin American neighbors account for 26% of Chilean avocados and Asia for 9%.

No increase in the total volume of shipments from Chile to the international market is expected.

In the case of Colombia, 168 containers were shipped by the end of week 45, representing a 13% decrease. 85% were shipped to Europe and 15% to the United States. This percentage is beginning to increase compared to previous weeks, and in the coming weeks, shipments from Colombia to the United States are expected to remain between 15% and 20%.
