Brazilian avocado: shipments to Europe cease and local price rises

LOCAL MARKET
In August, prices in the local market began to rise, and by the end of August they had increased even further! There is still enough fruit available to meet local demand through October, when imports from Chile and Peru are expected to begin.

EXPORT MARKET
June saw the last shipments to Europe, with significantly lower volumes than May. There should be almost no shipments to Europe in July. For Argentina and Uruguay, June saw slightly higher volumes than May, and the outlook for July is to increase shipment volumes to Argentina and Uruguay.

In August, fruit from late-season areas was harvested, with large sizes. For September, fruit that remained in the fields is expected to become available, with lower quality, along with the beginning of part of the “loca” flowering, which is expected to have low volume this year.
The most relevant factor during this period, August/September, is flowering and fruit set for the next season, which appears to be developing very strongly. The El Niño effect brought rainfall in July/August and at the beginning of September, encouraging growers. We will have confirmation at the beginning of October!
PERSPECTIVES
For September, the key aspect is to monitor the fields to confirm the SUPER CROP of 2027. Brazil is no longer shipping fruit to Europe. Prices in Argentina remain firm, and the market is accepting large-sized fruit from Brazil. However, total Hass volumes are lower in September, so smaller volumes will be shipped to Argentina.
