Brazil: Hass avocado prices rise and exports fall
Brazil
LOCAL MARKET
In September, prices remained firm in the local market. Domestic supplies are sufficient to meet local demand through the end of October, at which point imports from Chile are expected to begin.
The current price of Hass avocados at the CEAGESP wholesale market (https://ceagesp.gov.br/cotacoes/) for September 30, 2026, is expected to remain at that level throughout most of October.

EXPORT MARKET
In September, I maintained the same shipment volume to Europe (10 containers per month). For Argentina and Uruguay, September marked a significant drop in volume—despite shipping 12 trucks per week to Argentina and one per month to Uruguay—and the outlook for October is a further decline or virtually no shipments at all.

FIELD
In September, the only fruit harvested came from late-ripening areas, consisting of large sizes and lower-quality fruit that had been left behind in some orchards. Fruit from the "loca" (off-season) bloom is expected in October, though volumes are low this year.
The most significant development during September is the flowering and fruit set for the upcoming season, which appears very promising. The effects of El Niño brought rains in July, August, and September, boosting producer optimism.
PERSPECTIVES
By October, we should have confirmation of the volume for 2027, which I currently estimate at 70,000 harvestable tons.
