Record harvest in Mexico, low yield and price at the limit

Mexico

In week 42, the fruit harvest reached 34,400 tons, of which 27,084 tons were exported, representing a 79% utilization rate. This indicates that some fruit was not shipped over the weekend, and nearly 4,000 more tons were exported by Monday.

This week the harvest has started in earnest and it is expected to be around 35,000 tons.

The available hectares have a reduction of about 5% and are 40,401 in both states, Michoacán and Jalisco.

On the other hand, the price remains very low and we are at 17% less than last season, which has caused a lot of discontent in the production sector, and with good reason, because we are at the limit of the cost of production.

Mexico is practically alone in the market and supplies 97% of the volume, Colombia 2% and California, which is finishing up, 1%.

Exports to other markets continue to grow: Canada with around 1,300 tons per week, Central America with 400 tons, Japan with 350 tons, and some other countries with marginal volumes.

We will continue to receive significant offers from Mexico in the coming months.

Have a great week.
