Projections for Chilean fruit in Baika: growth and opportunities
This year is shaping up to be full of opportunities and growth for Chilean avocado exports . Baika is part of this reality, with export volumes already four times higher than the same week last year, in a context where the industry as a whole has traded twice as much.
Market conditions have been favorable due to the early end of the season in Peru and delays in the entry of other origins, such as Morocco and Israel, into the market. This can be seen as a kind of "perfect storm" that has benefited Chilean exports, with growing demand from key markets.
An example is what happened with the United States, which, by suspending imports from Mexico for 10 days, sought to secure fruit, advancing programs that already offered very good prices with volumes of fruit from Chile.
Baika has also consolidated its presence in the Chilean domestic market, working closely with major retail chains. One advantage has been having the right infrastructure for this, such as our warehouse in Lo Valledor, which allows us to have fruit very close to our customers.
One of its strengths has been its ability to adapt to changing global market conditions. In Chile's case, the integration of local production and exports, along with diversifying origins, has been key, supplying the Chilean market with avocados from Chile and Peru, whose seasons overlap almost perfectly.
