Mexico maintains stability in shipments to the U.S.
Mexico
Last week, 20,209 tons were harvested, of which 16,466 were exported to the United States market, representing an 82% utilization rate. This week, a harvest of around 18,000 tons is expected, so Mexico is projected to maintain stable shipments.
The amount of available acreage this week is 27,640 hectares, 2% more than last week. In the coming weeks, Mexico is expected to maintain similar volumes, although competition from other origins could limit its ability to increase production.
Currently, the US market is divided as follows:
Mexico (55%)
Peru (21%)
California (20%)
Colombia (4%).
These percentages will remain stable in the coming weeks.
The size curve in Mexico continues to be dominated by sizes 48's and 60's, with a smaller percentage of large fruit.
As for exports to other countries, Canada remains the second most important market, with about 70% of exports, followed by 30% divided between Central America and Asia, with a small volume.
We will have several weeks of relative stability, with competition from other sources in the coming weeks. Mexico will have to wait for prices from other sources to decrease before it can increase its volume.
I wish you all a wonderful week.
