Development of the Argentine and Uruguayan markets: challenges and achievements

The Argentine market has been a priority for Baika, achieving a significant share of 30% of exports to that country, which allows it to always be among the first and second exporters in that country.

Despite Argentina's economic difficulties, the company has maintained its commitment to its customers, continuing shipments even during periods of monetary uncertainty. This steadfastness has strengthened the brand and opened new opportunities in a market that is already experiencing significant improvements compared to its most challenging times, such as the reduction in payment terms from 180 to 30 days.

There are several advantages to developing this market. The first is Argentina's geographical proximity, which allows Baika to supply its operations from the Southern Cone. This enables exports throughout the year. Furthermore, the Argentine market consumes fruit sizes that are not as attractive to Europe, allowing Baika to diversify its offerings and maximize returns for producers, who are the core of the business, as much of the industry's success depends on them.

Looking ahead, Baika continues to see opportunities for expansion in Argentina. There is product knowledge, cultural affinity with high-consumption countries like Chile, and a very attractive business growth rate. Furthermore, the country also has production areas that allow it to consolidate its supply chain.

Uruguay is also proving interesting. Despite its small population, its per capita consumption is double that of Argentina. It's a small market, but one where we've also achieved a significant market position.

Baika's great advantage in these two markets is that we supply fruit 365 days a year, since we have product from Chile, which overlaps almost exactly with Peru, and when there are windows we always have the option of Colombia.

In fact, we are currently exporting to Argentina from Colombia, so we serve that country from three origins, consolidating two markets that have great potential for growth in their consumption.
