Baika Mexico: Leadership in the global export of avocados through innovation and strategy

Baika México, an exporter, has become a key player in the competitive global avocado market. Through an innovative and strategic approach, the company has distinguished itself by its ability to operate 365 days a year, guaranteeing a consistent, high-quality supply that meets the expectations of markets such as the United States, Europe, and South America.

In 2024, Baika reached a significant milestone by exporting over 17 million kilograms of avocados, and its projections for 2025, which has just begun, are to reach 18 million kilograms. This impressive growth reflects not only its operational capacity but also its ability to establish strategic alliances and strengthen its logistics infrastructure. The company processes and packages the fruit in Mexico before shipping it to its distribution center in McAllen, Texas, from where it supplies end consumers.

Baika Mexico's business model is not limited to simply meeting the demand of the United States, which accounts for 95% of its exports. The company has diversified its strategy to include markets such as Europe, Chile, and Argentina, adhering to strict international protocols that ensure the freshness and quality of its products.

It's worth noting that, under normal conditions, Mexico's weekly avocado export volume to the United States ranges from 16,000 to 22,000 tons, depending on the time of year. However, this number fluctuates considerably during the peak growing seasons in Peru and California, as exports from Mexico tend to decrease slightly during those periods. A key point is that during the Super Bowl, export figures skyrocket, reaching up to 30,000 tons per week, reflecting the enormous demand for avocados during this iconic event.

To solidify its position, Baika Mexico took a significant step in 2024 by opening its own packing facility in September of that year. This advancement allows for greater control over the export process and will improve operational efficiency. Simultaneously, the company successfully obtained two of the most important certifications, Primus and Smeta, essential for meeting international standards and facilitating direct agreements with renowned retailers such as Costco and Walmart.

Baika Mexico's vision for the future is focused on operational excellence and strategic expansion. Its alliance with Naturipe Avocados has been instrumental in strengthening its presence in the global market, while maintaining close relationships with key clients. This model, based on trust and quality, positions Baika as an undisputed leader in avocado exports.

As it moves toward new horizons, Baika Mexico reaffirms its commitment to innovation, sustainability, and continuous growth. The company is prepared to face the challenges of a constantly changing international market, confident that its strategic approach will allow it to continue leading the avocado industry.
