Baika Chile leads with excellence and sustainability through world-class certifications

In a world where quality, sustainability, and food safety are key elements in international markets, Baika Chile has positioned itself as a leader in fruit exports thanks to its commitment to these values. This recognition is not only due to the quality of its products but also to the company's commitment to the highest global standards through a range of certifications that guarantee its operational excellence.

This is how Baika Chile works under a multi-site certification model, that is, an approach that allows auditing and certifying more than one field under the same management system, carrying it out in its main orchards: Tilama, Angol, Vilcún and Gorbea.

One of these certifications is Global GAP, which ensures compliance with good agricultural practices, encompassing food safety, environmental protection, and the safety of people. This protocol supports every step of Baika's production process, from cultivation to harvest.

On the other hand, the GRASP protocol is designed to ensure responsible personnel management. This approach guarantees compliance with labor laws, employee traceability, and the establishment of committees that represent their interests. This commitment reaffirms the importance Baika places on the well-being of its team.

It also holds FSMA (Food Safety Modernization Act) certification, regulated by the US FDA, which is essential for entering the demanding North American market. This certification guarantees that Baika's products meet strict food safety standards, strengthening its position in that market.

Costco's certification, meanwhile, ensures that the exported fruit meets the high standards of this prestigious retail chain. This recognition reaffirms the quality, care, and rigor at every stage of Baika's production processes.

Rigorous audits that guarantee excellence

Baika Chile's audit cycle begins at the Tilama organic blueberry orchard, coinciding with the start of the harvest in September, and culminates in December after evaluating each of the aforementioned fields. This rigorous process has allowed the company to achieve outstanding results, with some orchards meeting 100% of the requirements and others resolving minor nonconformities through immediate corrective actions.

Furthermore, Agro Sabio Chile Spa's Santa Hilda Cherry Orchard, which is also part of Baika's operations, is certified under Global GAP and FSMA. During recent audits, Santa Hilda achieved full compliance, standing out for its speed in the verification processes.

Baika Chile is not content with simply maintaining its current certifications, but is also implementing new versions of the protocols. For example, the adoption of the

Version 6 of Global GAP will allow the incorporation of stricter sustainability criteria, such as the optimization of water resource use and advanced carbon footprint monitoring, improving both operational efficiency and environmental impact. For the 2025-2026 season, the company is prepared to adopt version 6 of Global GAP and the updated GRASP protocol, consolidating its position as a pioneer in compliance with international standards.

Continuous improvement is a fundamental pillar, reflected in ongoing training, documentation of best practices, staff inductions, and infrastructure upgrades. These efforts ensure the maintenance of certifications throughout the year, even outside of the harvest season.

Baika Chile's commitment to sustainability and social responsibility is evident in each of its certifications. Its ongoing work not only guarantees quality products for international markets but also promotes a positive impact on communities and the environment.

With its vision of excellence and continuous improvement, Baika Chile continues to set a precedent in the fresh fruit export industry, consolidating itself as a benchmark in quality, sustainability and food safety.
