MIGASA promotes avocado oil in Colombia
The Spanish group inaugurates the largest avocado oil extraction plant in the country in Quindío.

The Colombian Hass avocado industry continues to attract international investment with the arrival of the Spanish group MIGASA, which began operations in Colombia through its subsidiary Avanto. The company launched an avocado oil extraction plant in Armenia, Quindío, considered the largest facility of its kind in the country and one of the most significant investments for the sector's agro-industrial development.
The project has already begun operations after completing a six-month technical testing period and has the capacity to process up to 1.5 million kilograms of fruit per month. Furthermore, the company confirmed that it has already made its first international shipment, marking the beginning of a strategy focused on expanding the presence of Colombian avocado oil in global markets.
Antonio Gallego, CEO of MIGASA, highlighted that Colombia represents a strategic location for the company's expansion thanks to the sustained growth of Hass avocado cultivation and the export capacity developed in various regions of the country. The Spanish firm, present in more than 120 countries and with a turnover of nearly €2 billion in 2024, seeks to strengthen its international position within the agri-food industry.
Avanto pointed out that one of Colombia's main competitive advantages is its ability to produce avocados for much of the year, supported by more than 55,000 hectares of Hass avocado orchards. The sector's growth is also reflected in exports: in 2025, Colombia exported over 200,000 tons, generating more than $375 million in international sales and solidifying its position as one of the most important emerging origins in the global avocado industry.
