Technical training on Hass avocados arrives in Salamina, Caldas
Agrícola Goliat, renowned for its solid track record in Hass avocado cultivation, will hold a specialized technical training session on January 16, 2025, in the Portachuelo village, located on the San Pablo road in Salamina, Caldas. The session, which will take place from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, will feature Sebastián Vallejos and Gonzalo Vargas Carranza, experts with over 24 years of experience in this sector and owners of Agrícola Goliat, an agricultural project covering 12 hectares with a total of 12,686 plants distributed under a high-density system of 1,000 plants per hectare.
During the training, participants will have the opportunity to delve into key topics for improving their crops, such as soil microbiology, which includes understanding the interaction between microorganisms and the soil—a fundamental aspect for avocado health. Topics related to soil and foliar fertilization will also be covered, focusing on techniques to optimize crop nutrition. Furthermore, stress management in crops will be addressed, including strategies to mitigate the effects of adverse factors such as weather and pests. The use of biostimulants, which promote healthy plant growth, and growth regulators, essential for optimizing production, will also be discussed.
This training is aimed at farmers, technicians and people interested in perfecting Hass avocado cultivation practices, with a view to improving the sustainability and efficiency of their operations.
