CIPALTO 2026 confirms its program and the participation of experts in Trujillo

The 5th International Hass Avocado Congress in Peru (CIPALTO 2026) is entering its final stages of preparation after officially confirming the technical program and the lineup of international experts who will lead its fifth edition. The event, which has established itself as a key platform for technology transfer and the competitiveness of Peruvian avocados, will take place on September 10 and 11, 2026, at the Costa del Sol Wyndham Hotel in Trujillo.

Under the central theme of "Biologicals and Postharvest," the congress will address the agroclimatic, physiological, and market challenges facing the industry following recent climate impacts. The event will bring together producers, researchers, and agribusiness leaders from Peru, Chile, Mexico, Argentina, and Venezuela.

A program structured around strategic axes

The academic schedule includes two intensive days of lectures focused on solving the main agronomic emergencies of the crop.

The first day, Thursday, September 10, will focus on the production context, soil, and microbiology. Highlights include the opening presentation by Dr. Gustavo Iwanaga (Peru) on the agroclimatic outlook for the northern coast for the 2026-2027 growing season, followed by Eng. Mario Pozo (Peru), who will analyze the physiological changes resulting from the El Niño phenomenon.

During the afternoon, the focus will shift to regenerative agriculture, biofertilization, and the use of microorganisms for induced plant defense, with presentations by MSc. Mauricio Navarro (Mexico), Dr. Mariana Puente (Argentina), MSc. Braulio Lemus (Mexico), and Venezuelan specialists MSc. Vianellys Hernández and Biologist Carlos Rodríguez.

The second day, Friday, September 11, will focus on nutrition, mitigating environmental stress, and export quality. Specialists such as MSc. Pedro Castillo (Chile) and Eng. Mauricio del Real (Chile/Genomics) will present on irrigation technology and climate stress, while Dr. Richard Solórzano (Peru) and MSc. Tomás Gallardo (Chile/Ferpac) will present advances in cadmium control.

The closing session will focus on fruit physiology and the export logistics chain, with presentations by Dr. Thomas Fichet (Chile) and Eng. Sara Álvarez (Peru).

Panel discussion on the future of the sector and strategic participation

One of the key events of the first day will be the panel discussion: "Challenges of the Present and Future of Peruvian Avocados for the Domestic and International Markets ." This roundtable will bring together leading figures from the value chain.
