Specialists from five countries will share scientific and technological advances at CIPALTO 2026
Internationally recognized researchers and consultants will present on microbiology, bio-inputs, plant physiology and sustainable management of Hass avocado cultivation.
The 5th International Hass Avocado Congress in Peru (CIPALTO 2026), to be held on September 10 and 11 in Trujillo, will bring together leading experts from Peru, Argentina, Chile, Mexico, and Venezuela. They will present research and experiences aimed at improving the productivity, sustainability, and competitiveness of one of the most important crops for Peruvian agricultural exports. The academic agenda will place special emphasis on the use of biological tools, technological innovation, and post-harvest handling.

Among the national speakers is Dr. Juan Cabrera La Rosa , researcher and professor at the Antenor Orrego Private University (UPAO), who will present the lecture “Effectiveness of Bioprotectants in Integrated Pest Management of Hass Avocados in Peru.” He will be joined by Dr. Richard Solórzano Acosta , a Renacyt researcher and specialist at the National Institute of Agricultural Innovation (INIA), who will present “Advances in Cadmium Management in Avocados and Improvement of their Nutrition through the Use of Biofertilizing Microorganisms in Nursery Conditions ,” a topic linked to current challenges in food safety and agricultural sustainability.
Agricultural microbiology will have a prominent presence with the participation of Dr. Mariana Laura Puente, a researcher at the National Institute of Agricultural Technology (INTA) of Argentina, who will present on “Biofertilization as a Tool for Sustainable Agriculture . ” Dr. Vianellys Hernández Aguilera will share her knowledge on “The Use of Microorganisms and Their Derivatives in Induced Plant Defense ,” while biologist Carlos Rodríguez Leo will contribute his expertise in agricultural microbiomes, biological control, and the development of bio-inputs applied to export crops in Latin America.
The program also includes the participation of Mexican specialist Braulio Lemus Soriano , an international consultant in regenerative agriculture, who will give two presentations: “Microbiology in Regenerative Agriculture: From Biocontrol to Biostimulation” and “Sunscreens for Climate Stress Mitigation: Their Impact on Fruit Quality .” Meanwhile, Chilean academic Dr. Thomas Fichet Lagos , a leading expert in plant physiology and fruit growing, will present “Expanding Knowledge of New Plant Hormones and Their Link to the Development of Fruit Trees such as Avocado.”

Similarly, the Peruvian delegation will contribute valuable technical and local analysis. MSc. Mario Pozo Cárdenas will address "Physiological Changes During the El Niño Phenomenon that Impact Avocado Yield and Health ," a crucial topic for the crop's climate resilience, while MSc. Isaías Segovia Romaní will offer a comprehensive perspective in his presentation "Strategic Management of Hass Avocado: Agronomic and Microbiological Keys."
With this selection of experts, CIPALTO 2026 seeks to consolidate itself as one of the main spaces for technical and scientific updating for producers, advisors, researchers and companies linked to the Hass avocado production chain.
