The Colombia Avocado Board (CAB) announced its new board of directors for the 2026-2027 term. The new leadership takes the helm of the organization with a clear priority: to strengthen collaboration between Colombian exporters and U.S. importers, with the goal of expanding the presence of Colombian Hass avocados in the United States.
The new board of directors, comprised of nine members, is tasked with guiding and overseeing CAB's commercial and promotional initiatives. Among its objectives are strengthening relationships with retail chains and food service operators, and raising awareness of Colombian avocados among U.S. consumers.
Who are the members of the board of directors?
Mauricio Moranth, co-founder of Montana Fruits, joins as the exporters' representative. Juan Monsalve, of LGS Specialty Sales, joins as the importers' representative. Dustin Hahn, of Narturipe Avocados, was elected to fill a vacancy in the import sector and will complete the term until 2027.
Kellen Newhouse of West Pak Avocado and Ricardo Uribe of Cartama were re-elected as president and vice president, respectively. Both will continue until 2028, as will Katheryn Mejia of Corpohass. The board is completed by Galen Johnson of Mission Produce as secretary; Sergio Plata of Baika Fruit as treasurer; and Ricardo Mejia of Fruty Green. All three will remain in their positions until 2027.
The continuity of the offer as a commercial argument
Quality, consistency, and year-round availability are attributes that the Colombia Avocado Board seeks to promote in the United States. For the organization, working with clients such as importers, retailers, and food service operators is key to translating its offerings into new business opportunities.
For his part, Manuel Michel, CEO of CAB, noted that the new board members will bring fresh perspectives that complement the experience of those remaining in their positions. The expectation is that the combination of these viewpoints will help strengthen trade relations with the U.S. market and coordinate efforts across the various links in the supply chain.
The announcement sets CAB's commercial direction for the period. For Colombian exporters, the key question is how this coordination translates into concrete opportunities with US buyers, both in supermarkets and the food service industry.
