Reyes Gutiérrez begins his first avocado harvest on his farms in Portugal and Cádiz, covering a total of about 500 hectares.

Juan Antonio Reyes, director of the Malaga-based company, notes that this first harvest, while not large, will meet expectations. Production is expected to reach its peak by 2026, supplying all of Europe with locally sourced avocados with full traceability thanks to the technology implemented in the crops.

Reyes highlights the company's commitment to expansion, with the goal of reaching 1,000 hectares on the Iberian Peninsula and another 1,000 in Morocco. In 2023, despite the fruit shortage in Spain, Reyes Gutiérrez and its subsidiaries managed to market around 30,000 tons, generating a turnover of nearly 90 million euros.

The director has confidence in the management of the new generation, led by his children, who are driving new business strategies and optimizing production and distribution processes. He also highlights the ongoing investment in technology to improve production efficiency and quality.

By 2024, a high-quality national avocado campaign is expected, supported by the company's own production distributed throughout the Iberian Peninsula. Regarding imports, the company maintains contact with international partners and suppliers to guarantee a consistent supply of avocados year-round.

Reyes Gutiérrez's approach for 2024 includes increasing production in the Spanish Levante region by bringing in new partners, as well as developing new cultivation fields in Morocco.
