ProHass makes progress at Senasa with the registration of 17 agrochemical products and 4 more in process

The Peruvian Hass Avocado Producers and Exporters Association (ProHass) began the registration process for 21 active ingredients in agrochemicals with the National Agrarian Health Service (Senasa) in 2020, successfully registering 17 products, including acaricides, fungicides, insecticides, and growth regulators necessary for Hass avocado cultivation. The remaining four registrations are expected by mid-January 2024.

In the words of ProHass representatives: "As an association, we are proud to continue providing high-quality products at affordable prices to all our members." The technical trials conducted show satisfactory results, which will be presented at the meeting planned for February 2024.

The products already registered include fungicides, acaricides, insecticides, and growth regulators, while the four pending are: “the fungicides Pyrimethanil 400 SC and Boscalid + Pyraclostrobin, the insecticide Bacillus thuringiensis var. Kurstaki 6.4% WP, and the growth regulator Paclobutrazol 250 SC.” Furthermore, the registration of 10 additional products is planned to begin in 2024, thus expanding the range of agrochemicals available to members.

The registration process faced delays due to the pandemic, demanding laborious and costly efforts for the preparation and submission of dossiers to entities such as the General Directorate of Environmental Health (Digesa), the General Directorate of Environmental Affairs (DGAA) and Senasa, the entity in charge of granting the registration, after obtaining the approval opinions of the other two entities.

ProHass used to directly import pesticides and other chemicals for its members, but regulatory changes from July 2021 restricted this practice, forcing the association to limit itself to importing only agrochemicals previously registered by Senasa.
