Peru plans to add 13 more access points for agricultural products in 2024

Peru's Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (Midagri), through the National Agrarian Health Service (Senasa), plans to open 13 new international market access points for Peruvian agricultural products in 2024. Target destinations include Argentina for fresh bell peppers, Chile for table grapes, China for pomegranates and frozen fruits (mango, avocado, and blueberries), Colombia for lucuma, Malaysia for avocados, the United States for asparagus, goldenberries, and pitahaya, Brazil for hydrangea (cut flowers), New Zealand for citrus fruits, Japan for blueberries, and Vietnam for citrus fruits.

The Deputy Minister of Agricultural Development Policies and Supervision at Midagri, Víctor Parra Puente, emphasized the importance of seeking new international markets for Peruvian products and highlighted: "These actions go hand in hand with field work, which is focused on providing phytosanitary support, ensuring the health and safety of our agricultural products."

At a technical working meeting, Senasa officially presented the Action Plan for Market Access for Plant Products, seeking the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and diplomatic missions for holding bilateral meetings in 2024. Furthermore, commitments were made to finalize market access agreements, prioritizing countries whose processes are in the final stages of establishing phytosanitary import requirements.
