Peru closes week 41 with an 84% drop in its avocado exports

Peruvian avocado exports experienced a sharp decline in week 41, totaling just 23 containers shipped, representing an 84% drop compared to the previous week. This figure is also significantly lower than the same period in 2024, falling 48%, and confirms the gradual end of the Andean country's export season.

Europe remains the primary destination for Peruvian fruit, receiving 17 containers, equivalent to 74% of the total exported that week. The remaining volume was divided equally between Chile and Asia, with 13% for each. This distribution reflects Peru's decline in key markets, after having maintained a share of nearly 50% per week in the European market for much of the season.

Currently, Peru's share of the European market has fallen to 25% in week 42, a drastic change considering its sustained dominance during the peak months. The low availability of fruit and the natural end of the production cycle explain the marked contraction in volume, while international markets adjust their supply sources towards other origins in the Southern Hemisphere.
