Fluctuations persist in the Chinese avocado market due to lower shipments from Chile and Peru

The Chinese market closed the week with a decrease in avocado imports, following a typical fluctuating pattern for this time of year. Last week, 39 containers arrived, primarily from Chile and Peru, representing a 24% drop compared to the previous week, when more than 50 containers were recorded.

This decrease is not surprising, as the Chinese market typically shows cyclical variations in its import volumes. In fact, projections for next week point to a rebound that could return the figures to previous levels, with an estimated 50 containers.

However, Peru's share of shipments appears to be winding down this season. Projections suggest that the volume available for export from this country will be scarce at the start of 2025, which would leave Chile as the main supplier of avocados to China in the first weeks of the new year.
