Mission Produce Inc. promotes its spring production at the Viva Fresh event

During the Texas International Produce Association's Viva Fresh Produce Expo, taking place in Houston from April 11-13, Mission Produce Inc. will be showcasing its spring avocado and mango programs. Galen Johnson, senior director of foodservice and wholesale, emphasized the importance of this season in ensuring the success of its partners through a reliable supply of ripe avocados and mangoes, especially with Cinco de Mayo approaching.

Spring, according to Johnson, is crucial for retailers and restaurants to benefit from peak consumption periods that coincide with holidays such as Cinco de Mayo, Mother's Day, and Memorial Day, taking advantage of the promotional opportunities offered by Mission thanks to its diversified sourcing strategy from the world's leading producing regions.

AvoIntel's analysis of Mission Produce reveals significant overlap between avocado and mango consumers, with 87% of mango buyers also purchasing avocados, and 42% of avocado buyers purchasing mangoes. During Cinco de Mayo, those who purchased both products spent an average of 63% more. Johnson emphasized that avocados and mangoes are not only complementary products but also sales drivers, committing to support the profitable growth of its partners with customized ripening programs and category management leadership.

This summer, Mission will source avocados from California, Mexico, and its own farms in Peru, as well as mangoes primarily from Mexico, with additional volumes from Guatemala and Nicaragua. In addition, it will introduce new packaging for GEM avocados, a California-grown variety available for a limited time during the summer months.
