Michoacán leads agricultural exports in Mexico, with avocados as the main product.

The state contributes more than $3.1 billion in exports, consolidating its position as the country's main agricultural engine, despite climate challenges.

Michoacán reaffirms its position as the undisputed leader in Mexican agricultural exports, according to figures from INEGI (the Mexican National Institute of Statistics and Geography). During the first nine months of 2024, the state generated $3.142 billion in exports, with avocados as its flagship product. This fruit, known as "green gold," has kept Michoacán at the forefront of national agricultural trade and with a strong presence in international markets.

The Mexican agricultural sector as a whole registered a 3.4% growth in the value of its exports, reaching $12.484 billion through the third quarter of this year. Michoacán, along with Sinaloa, Sonora, Jalisco, and Baja California, accounted for 71.6% of the total. Each state has contributed specific products, but Michoacán stands out not only for the volume but also for the quality and consistent demand for its avocados.

Despite facing climate challenges such as drought during the first half of the year, Michoacán has demonstrated its resilience and ability to adapt. The state's commitment to productivity and excellence solidifies its position as a model in the Mexican agricultural sector, boosting both its local economy and its global recognition.
