Slight increase in avocado shipments to China during week 51

The Chinese market showed a slight increase in avocado shipments during week 51, registering 19% growth compared to the previous week. Although this translates to only 38 shipments, the variability in volumes and changes in the main export origins make it difficult to predict clear trends in this region.

Currently, Chile dominates the Chinese market with over 90% market share, while Peru continues to export on a limited basis, solidifying its position as one of the few destinations to which it continues to export. A significant increase is projected for next week with the arrival of 51 shipments, a notable figure compared to the 27 recorded during the same week last year.

Historically, the busiest weeks for shipments to China are concentrated between weeks 25 and 40, with a typical peak in April, when volumes can exceed 100 containers per week. However, between week 52 of last year and week 37 of this year, no week reached 50 shipments, highlighting the significance of the projected increase for this season.
