Peruvian avocados are on track to reach US$970 million in exports this year

In 2024, Peruvian avocado exports are projected to reach a value of close to 970 million dollars, marginally exceeding the 2023 revenues, which stood at 964 million dollars, according to data provided by Scotiabank.

Maintaining its position as the world's second-largest exporter of this fruit, behind Mexico, the Peruvian export campaign faces challenges due to the high temperatures associated with the El Niño phenomenon. Export volume is expected to decrease by approximately 10% compared to the previous year, reaching 540,000 tons.

However, this reduction in volume could be offset by an increase in the average export price, which is expected to reach $1.8 per kilogram, 14% higher than in 2023. Europe and the United States continue to be the main markets demanding Peruvian avocados.

In terms of production, 2023 saw a record 911,253 tons of avocado produced, with La Libertad, Lambayeque, Lima and Ica standing out as the regions with the greatest contribution to this total.
