Peruvian Hass avocados maintain their prestige in international markets

This year, Peru will export more than 30,000 containers of Hass avocados to 69 countries, with the European Union being the main destination for our exports. These shipments are made under strict sanitary and quality controls, both at the point of origin and in the destination markets, as is the case with all fresh produce entering the countries where our Hass avocados are exported.

So far this season, 14 containers—equivalent to 0.05% of the total received in Europe—have been inspected as part of routine control processes. This level of inspection is statistically insignificant compared to the total exported volume and is within normal parameters for a world-class industry.

The Hass avocado is a globally recognized superfood, cultivated in Peru by more than 29,000 producers, of which nearly 21,000 are small farmers. This fruit, a source of national pride, reaches millions of consumers worldwide thanks to its quality, freshness, and extraordinary nutritional value. Every Peruvian avocado enjoyed on a table around the globe is the result of the efforts of thousands of families who work with passion and commitment, adhering to the highest international health standards to offer a safe, healthy, and top-quality product that conveys not only flavor but also the dedication of an entire country, making Peru the world's second-largest producer and exporter of Hass avocados.

The Peruvian Hass Avocado Producers and Exporters Association (ProHass) especially highlights the collaborative work with the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (MIDAGRI), which strengthens the care and improvements in the production process. This exemplary collaboration between the public and private sectors ensures that our exports continue to be a source of confidence and pride for Peru worldwide.
