Global Avocado Summit 2024: Innovation and strategies for the future of avocados
Avocado Day returns renewed with a program of talks and panels that will allow attendees to better understand the opportunities and challenges they face, as they work to ensure that the industry's growth is sustainable and successful globally.
Santiago, October 1, 2024. The Global Avocado Summit will take place on November 21 at the Monticello Casino Events Center, organized by the Chilean Avocado Committee and the Yentzen Group. This revamped event will be a key forum for the avocado industry, with a special focus on sustainability, market trends, and business strategies.
Why attend? “With the continued growth of avocado consumption in European and Asian markets, the need to connect with producers who focus on sustainable practices, but who have their sights set on international export, is key to ensuring that consumer demand is met each year,” says Shelly Vorster of the World Avocado Organisation (WAO), who also states that “WAO looks forward to this event, as it acts as the marketing arm of producers, representing their fruit where it is sold in the UK and Europe.”
In this sense, the importance of Avocado Day lies in the opportunity to understand the global dynamics affecting the industry. And Chile, being one of the world's leading suppliers, with a domestic consumption of 8.2 kilos per capita per year and consolidating its position as one of the world's largest consumers, must also rise to the occasion.
“Attending the Global Avocado Summit is crucial for the industry, as it provides a unique platform. Together, we can share knowledge, foster innovation, and strengthen our collective efforts to ensure the sustainable growth of the avocado market in a world where it is increasingly recognized for its health benefits, and where the sustainability of our product is one of the main challenges we face. This summit is an essential step in securing the future of this agricultural sector , ” adds Emiliano Escobedo, director of the Hass Avocado Board (HAB), the world’s largest center for avocado research.
Top-level agenda
To achieve all these goals, the Global Avocado Summit 2024 will offer a diverse program from 8:00 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. on Thursday, November 21, where attendees will be able to delve into key issues for the future of the industry, through talks and panels of national and international experts.
Topics range from global market analysis, the relevance of collaborative work in the sector, to projected demand in China and India, and sustainable and climate challenges in South America.
Among the speakers will be Shelly Vorster from WAO—the organization responsible for defining sustainable avocado growth and consumption worldwide—who will analyze the development and future projections of the avocado market in Europe. Emiliano Escobedo will share his perspective on the North American market, and Jerry Clode, a renowned marketing specialist from The Solution, will analyze the Chinese and Indian consumer. “The Chilean avocado industry has the opportunity to consolidate itself as a preferred and reliable choice for consumers, becoming an essential part of the middle class's identity in both China and India, which would also support its presence in other markets. In my presentation, I will highlight how we can leverage this opportunity to generate sustainable and growing profitability. I will also be available throughout the day to answer questions in Spanish, English, or, if you prefer, Chinese. I'll be the New Zealander with the Chile-themed tie,” Clode jokes.
Undoubtedly, each of the program's interventions will allow attendees to better understand what's coming and what they will have to face, while working together to ensure that the industry's growth is sustainable and successful globally.
“This growth, coupled with climate challenges and international competition, makes it essential to stay abreast of global trends, technological advances, and collaborative strategies that can guarantee the long-term sustainability and success of the industry,” says Gustavo Yentzen, CEO of Yentzen Group.
Don't miss the Global Avocado Summit 2025, already a must-attend event for anyone who wants to stay ahead of the curve in an industry that continues to grow and transform. Be part of the future of avocados!
