Avocado Territory, epicenter of the region's avocado industry
Medellín is once again becoming the heart of Latin American avocados. On November 5th and 6th, the city will host the seventh edition of Territorio Aguacate, an event that solidifies Colombia's position as a leader in the production, processing, and export of Hass avocados. With over 3,900 confirmed attendees, including producers, exporters, investors, researchers, and representatives from the public and private sectors, the event is poised to become the most important hub for knowledge, business, and innovation on the continent.
The context couldn't be more favorable. So far this year, Colombian Hass avocado exports have grown by 46.6%, reaching 147,013 tons, according to official figures. The crop is now present in 238 municipalities, with more than 32,000 hectares certified for export, 61,000 direct jobs, and a 1.5% contribution to the national agricultural GDP. These numbers reflect the dynamism of an industry that, in less than a decade, has gone from being a promising prospect to a consolidated reality.
Organized by Corpohass in partnership with Agrilink, Territorio Aguacate 2025 combines academic, technical, and business expertise in a single setting. The program features over 40 speakers and 20 specialized sessions, covering topics such as productivity, sustainability, foreign trade, technological innovation, and opening new markets.
Among the international guests are Kevin Whitaker, former US ambassador to Colombia; Rodrigo Suárez, Climate and Sustainability leader at Marsh; and renowned chef Jorge Rausch, who will offer the presentation “The avocado is served with quality: a chef's perspective”, a proposal that connects the agro-industry with high-level gastronomy.
The agenda also includes guided tours of producing farms and packing plants, where attendees can learn about the practices that support the quality of Colombian avocados, as well as personalized advice from experts in plant matters, certifications, processing, logistics and international trade.
“Territorio Aguacate is the clearest expression of the coordinated work of a sector that has grown with purpose, promoting sustainability and innovation at every link in the chain,” said Katheryn Mejía, executive president of Corpohass. “This event not only showcases the country’s progress, but also projects its future as a global leader in the Hass avocado agribusiness.”
One of the major highlights of the 2025 edition is AvoMatch, the business matchmaking event that connects national and international companies through 30-minute meetings, facilitating agreements and strategic alliances throughout the avocado supply chain. In addition to this space, there are AvoTalks, technical talks in which experts address challenges in the sector such as quality, post-harvest handling, industrial transformation and environmental sustainability.
The trade show, with more than 140 exhibiting companies, showcases the latest in agricultural technology, biotechnology, machinery, logistics, packaging, certifications and specialized services, consolidating a comprehensive platform for innovation. In addition, the AvoTaste, AvoShop, Innovation Zone and Experience Zone provide the public with spaces for interaction and learning about the versatility of avocado in cooking, science and business.
Territorio Aguacate 2025 reaffirms Colombia's leadership as a driving force behind the Hass avocado agro-industry in the region. Its focus on sustainability, quality, and the connection between farm and market makes the event a strategic platform for strengthening the agricultural export sector and a bridge between science, business, and the producing community.
