Innovation, sustainability and market opening: this is how the 9th Jalisco Avocado Congress 2025 was experienced
The 9th Jalisco Avocado Congress 2025, organized by the Association of Avocado Producers and Exporters of Jalisco (APEAJAL), turned Ciudad Guzmán into the epicenter of the avocado industry between August 27 and 29, bringing together producers, exporters and specialists from Mexico and abroad around the great challenges and opportunities of the sector.
For three days, producers, exporters and specialists shared experiences and analyzed the challenges of a sector that continues to expand.
The program included keynote lectures, international presentations, technical forums, business meetings and visits to orchards, in addition to cultural activities and a trade exhibition with more than 150 exhibitors who showcased the latest innovations for avocado cultivation and marketing.
Under the motto "Technology for the present and future", the congress focused on the incorporation of modern tools to improve production and respond to the demands of international markets.
The topics covered included crucial issues such as sustainability and environmental stewardship, fruit health and safety, pest management, and new crop nutrition practices. Strategies for opening new markets were also discussed, a key point for a state like Jalisco, which has established itself as one of Mexico's most important avocado-producing regions.
One of the most significant moments of the event was the presentation of the Sustainable Avocado Award, a recognition given by APEAJAL to producers who stand out for implementing environmentally responsible practices. This award seeks to highlight and encourage environmental commitment throughout the production chain.
The importance of the event becomes clear when considering APEAJAL's own figures: Jalisco currently has more than 3,200 avocado producers and 23 export packing facilities that ship avocados to nearly 30 countries. The congress thus served as a platform not only for producers to update their technical knowledge but also to reaffirm the state's position as a key player in the global industry.
The Jalisco Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (SADER) supported the activities and emphasized the importance of these types of spaces to strengthen the competitiveness of the sector and generate synergies between the different links in the chain.
At the close of the congress, APEAJAL highlighted the strong turnout and reiterated that the future of avocados in Jalisco will depend on the sector's ability to integrate technological innovation and sustainability into its processes. With this event, the association reaffirmed its commitment to continue promoting the industry's competitiveness and growth in a context of increasing demands in international markets.
At Avobook, we appreciate the trust of APEAJAL and the opportunity to have participated as a media partner of the congress, accompanying the industry in an event that reflects the strength and dynamism of the Jalisco avocado.
