Hass avocado exports in Colombia grew by 46.6%.

  • In September, Hass avocado exports reached 14,611 tons.
  • The Hass avocado is the third most exported fruit from Colombia, with sustained growth and a presence in markets such as Europe, the United States and Canada.
  • On November 5th and 6th, Medellín will host the seventh edition of Territorio Aguacate, an event organized by Corpohass in association with Agrilink that brings together the protagonists of the Hass sector in Latin America.

Bogotá, October 2025. According to figures from Market Intelligence and Foreign Trade (SICEX), in September Colombia exported 14,611 tons of Hass avocados, 32.9% more than in the same month of the previous year, consolidating this fruit as one of the agricultural products with the greatest potential in the country.

Year-to-date exports have reached 147,013 tons, a 46.6% increase compared to 2014. These figures position Hass avocados as Colombia's third most exported fruit. As for destinations, Europe, the United States, and Canada remain the main international markets for Colombian avocados.

According to Katheryn Mejía, CEO of Corpohass, “Each ton exported represents the effort of hundreds of producers who make Colombia a land of quality. Today, the world values not only our flavor, but also our ability to produce year-round with social, environmental, and technical responsibility.”

Part of the success of Colombian Hass avocados lies in the soil that nourishes them, as it features natural drainage that prevents waterlogging and reduces the risk of root rot, a critical factor for this crop. Furthermore, the soil is rich in minerals such as potassium, phosphorus, and magnesium; has a slightly acidic pH that facilitates balanced nutrient absorption; and boasts a structure that promotes the development of strong, extensive roots.

It is also highly valued for its rapid arrival at its destination, thanks to the country's strategic location with access to both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, allowing for shorter delivery times for distributors. Added to this is a key differentiator compared to other origins: consistent year-round production, supported by sustainable practices, traceability, and a quality that meets the demands of the global consumer.

In addition to its natural advantages, the sector has been strengthening a development model based on sustainability. Through the concept of Sustainable Production Chains, active collaboration is promoted among all actors in the Hass avocado value chain with the aim of improving productivity, respecting natural capital, and generating well-being in rural areas. Furthermore, this strategy addresses the three dimensions of sustainability (economic, social, and environmental) and seeks to build a resilient sector in the face of economic and climate challenges, while promoting equity and quality of life in the territories where this fruit is grown.

“The quality of Hass avocados must be a constant guarantee if Colombia wants to remain among the world’s leading exporters. This means working rigorously at every stage of the chain, from farm practices and fruit selection to packaging, traceability, and final delivery. A commitment to excellence is what will allow us to continue growing and consolidate trust in international markets,” Mejía added.

Amid the current boom in Colombian avocados, the seventh edition of Territorio Aguacate will take place in Medellín on November 5th and 6th . This event, organized by Corpohass in partnership with Agrilink, brings together key players in the Latin American Hass avocado industry to discuss knowledge, business, and innovation.

The event will feature guided tours of production farms, packing plants, and key supply chain locations, as well as an academic program, business matchmaking sessions, a commercial area, and hands-on experiences showcasing the potential of this industry.
