Avocado exports from Peru fall slightly but remain above last year's levels
During the end of week 29, Peru registered a total of 1,330 shipments destined for various international markets. This figure represents a 7% decrease compared to the previous week, although it remains 20% higher than the volume exported during the same week last year, reflecting a still-strong season in terms of supply.
Europe remains the primary destination for Peruvian exports, absorbing 56% of the total volume. This proportion has shown little variation in recent weeks. The United States remains the second largest destination with a 19% share, followed by Chile with 12% and Asia with 9%. The remaining 4% is distributed among other destinations.
It is worth noting that the volume shipped to Asia and Chile has shown similar behavior in recent weeks, with a slight trend towards more fruit being directed towards Chile.
At this stage of the season, projections indicate that the peak levels recorded in week 22, when 1,568 shipments were dispatched—the highest point of the season—will not be reached. However, the current pace of exports remains higher than that observed at the same stage of the previous season.
