Colombian avocado exports to the US triple in the first half of 2024

Colombian Hass avocados have gained a prominent position in the U.S. market, with a 300% increase in exports. Cities like Miami, Boston, and Louisville lead sales of this fruit, reflecting the growing demand and the quality of the Colombian product.

In the first half of 2024, Colombian Hass avocado exports to the United States tripled, solidifying Colombia's position as a key supplier in the market for this fruit. According to data released by the Hass Avocado Board (HAB), avocado consumption in the U.S. has grown steadily over the past decade, making it the world's largest importer. This remarkable increase in Colombian exports reflects both the growing demand in the U.S. market and the quality and sustainable practices implemented by Colombian producers.

The cities with the highest sales of Colombian Hass avocados in the U.S. during this period were Miami, which led with 15.98% of the total, followed by Boston (14.12%), Louisville (9.55%), Cincinnati (6.36%), and Baltimore/Washington, D.C. (4.93%). This significant growth has been celebrated in both Colombia and the U.S., with the U.S. Embassy in Colombia highlighting the success of Colombian avocados in its market on its social media account. The Embassy's message underscored Colombia's growing importance as a key partner in supplying avocados to the U.S.

Colombia's Foreign Minister, Luis Gilberto Murillo Urrutia, also echoed this success on his Twitter account, highlighting that Colombia has broken export records in 2024. Murillo emphasized that this achievement is a testament to the quality of Colombian avocados and the country's commitment to excellence in agricultural production. With these results, Colombia solidifies its position as a world leader in avocado supply, anticipating a promising future in the global market.
