Exports fall 56% after an atypical week, but Europe remains the main destination.
Chile's avocado export sector saw a significant drop in volume at the close of week 39, with 236 containers shipped, representing a 56% decrease compared to the previous week. This decline, however, follows a week considered atypical due to the sharp increase in shipments ahead of the Independence Day celebrations, and leaves current shipments at levels very similar to those of the same week last year, just 5% lower.
79% of Chilean containers were destined for Europe, reaffirming its role as the main market for the fruit. Latin America accounted for 14%, while the United States received 4% and Asia made up the remaining 3%.
In total, nine shipments were registered to the North American market, while Europe received around 187 containers, consolidating its position as the priority destination of the season.
Despite the weekly decrease, current trends align with the historical pattern of the Chilean campaign, which typically stabilizes its volumes toward the beginning of the fourth quarter. With shipments accumulated to date, approximately three-quarters of Chilean avocado exports have gone to Europe, confirming the country's structural dependence on that market.
