Europe has 5% more avocados than last week
Europe recorded the arrival of 692 containers of avocados in the Avobook Report for week 38. That's 5% more than the previous week and a significant increase of 34% compared to what was received the same week in 2023.
All this, despite the decline in Peruvian shipments, which still remains the most important origin, with a 62% share; followed by Kenya and Tanzania, which together represent 15%; in addition to Chile, Colombia and South Africa, sharing the remainder.
Here, the Chilean factor is relevant in measuring expectations, as a greater number of shipments were expected due to the early start of their season. However, weather-related issues have delayed their harvests, which is one of the factors contributing to high prices in both the Dutch and Spanish ports.
The delay in Chilean exports, coupled with the significant drop in Peruvian exports, would explain why, in the Dutch case, prices stabilized upwards, with high trading volume projected for at least six weeks.
Meanwhile, in Spain, prices have risen for almost all calibers, an example of which is the 24, whose value increased by 17%.
