China reduces its weekly volume by 22% but exceeds the 2024 year-on-year level by 63%.

The Chinese avocado market recorded a total of 57 shipments in week 48, a 22% decrease compared to the previous week. Even so, the supply level was 63% higher than that recorded in the same week last year. The fruit came mainly from Chile, which contributed 70% of the total, while Peru made up the remaining 30%. On a week-over-week comparison, Peru saw the largest decline, with a 39% drop in shipments.

The year-on-year comparison indicates that, although current volumes are higher than in 2024, the year-end in China remains low in terms of import activity. A review of previous seasons shows that the market typically operates at reduced levels during these weeks, a pattern that is repeating itself in 2024, albeit with a slight increase compared to previous years.

In terms of prices, the week showed a decrease of approximately 10% in sizes 18 to 24. This adjustment falls within a typical pattern for this time of year, with movements similar to those observed in past seasons. Analysts indicate that, if the historical trend continues, prices could close the year at slightly higher levels, following the pattern that usually occurs in the final weeks of the year.
