China: Imports increase again, while Chile maintains its lead in shipments

Week 2 saw a significant increase in avocado imports to China, totaling 50 containers, a 28% rise compared to the previous week. This growth continues to be driven by two main players: Chile, with a 59% share, and Peru, with the remaining 41%.

While Chile maintains its leading position in the Chinese market, historical trends suggest this dominance is short-lived. Based on patterns from previous years, a decrease in Chilean fruit volumes is expected starting in February, paving the way for a gradual increase in Peruvian exports. This transition is not new, but it shapes the market structure each year for the following months, solidifying Peru's position as the main supplier once the Chilean seasons end.

With the start of February and the changes in expected volumes, the coming weeks will be crucial to understanding how the participation of both countries in the Chinese market is being reconfigured.
