Peruvian avocado breaks records: exports grow by 32% in the first half of 2025

More than 433,000 tons of avocados were shipped abroad between January and June of this year, thanks to favorable weather conditions, strict phytosanitary controls and the growing incorporation of family farming into the agro-export circuit.

During the first six months of 2025, Peru exported more than 433,000 tons of avocados, representing a 32% increase compared to the same period of the previous year. This sustained growth is due to a combination of factors, including compliance with international standards, the work of SENASA (National Agrarian Health Service) in sanitary certification, and optimal weather conditions that have favored the crop.

A key aspect of this campaign has been the strengthening of family farming. Producers in regions such as Ayacucho, Lima provinces, Huancavelica, Apurímac, and Áncash have increased their participation in the export chain, adding more than 55,000 certified hectares. This not only contributes to the dynamism of foreign trade but also to the improvement of the Peruvian rural economy.

Currently, the main destinations for Peruvian avocados are the Netherlands, Spain, and the United States, markets that have shown significant growth. With 65 destinations already open and new negotiations underway with countries in Asia and Oceania, Peruvian avocados—especially the Hass variety—continue to solidify their position as an international benchmark for quality, flavor, and sustainability.
