Chilean avocados are starting to grow in Europe

During week 39, 688 containers of avocados arrived. The variation is minimal compared to last week (-1.5%), but it is much better compared to the same period last year. This is because historical records show that in 2023 the volumes shipped to that continent were abrupt. Therefore, week 39 of 2024 is 90% higher than that of 2023.

Peru holds 52% of the market, although its presence is declining. Kenya and Tanzania trail behind with 15%, while Chile is beginning to gain ground, reaching 14% of the fruit in Europe. Larger volumes are already being shipped from Chile. This week, 97 shipments were sent, and in the coming weeks, that number could rise to 200, representing the total number of shipments that have departed from port areas.

Colombian fruit shipments are projected to increase in October and November. The country expects to have larger volumes of smaller-sized fruit available.

Prices are rising to high levels and are expected to remain this healthy for the next 5 weeks.

In the specific case of Spain, prices rose slightly for larger sizes, such as size 18, which went from €3.50 per kilo to €3.70 in one week. Prices for the rest remained practically unchanged.

Remember that the details of each figure and the weekly evolution of the movements of the world avocado market in all markets and origins can be found in the Avobook Premium Report of Week 39.
