Monthly Hass Avocado Market Report in Brazil
Brazil
LOCAL MARKET
During the first two weeks of January, the Flora Loca avocado harvest was nearing completion. This variety is known for its excellent dry matter content and flavor. However, by the end of January, fruit with low dry matter content (13% to 15%) began appearing on the market, a regrettable situation. At the initiative of CEAGESP, a guide was created to disseminate information on the optimal dry matter content of Hass avocados and a classification system. https://jaguacy.box.com/s/mwqu2vhz4zlfs4es8sv8c8pl00fjdi4z
The volume traded in January via CEAGESP rose well compared to recent months, as shown by the central market statistics. January is always a slower month, but in 2026 it starts off stronger!!

The current price of Hass avocados at the central supply center, CEAGESP
https://ceagesp.gov.br/cotacoes/ referring to 9/2/2026, is a little more expensive than December in reais.

Very little was imported from Chile in January 2026.

By February, fruit with low dry matter content is already appearing on the local market. Because of the high price, producers are tempted to sell their harvest, but they don't understand the harm to consumers, who won't eat that fruit. Since the national market is still small and new, there's room for this kind of trickery. But with information being passed on to retailers, the sale of fruit with low dry matter content should decrease over time. Let's hope so!
EXPORT MARKET
Brazil's normal export campaign ended in January.

Regarding air shipments of Tropical avocados, we have the table below.

FIELD
The Brazilian campaign is three weeks behind schedule; the first shipments from Carmen (Mendez) already occurred at the end of January. A small volume is still expected for February, but a rapid increase is anticipated for March.
